Post 17 (11/19/25) WEDNESDAY (A SUPER CHILL DAY OF SLEEPING IN, BLOGGING, ETC.)
I slept in until 11am after another late night at the bar, and decided to go to The Bistro for some "American" pancakes (which were so mediocre I wanted to show them Joshua Weissman's video on YouTube with an excellent recipe) and a cappuccino. Who walked in while I was there? Luciano from the laundry room. We greeted each other, hugged, etc. and had a brief chat.
After all that food, I felt a long walk would be in order, and ended up walking around Yumbo as well. When I passed by the (closed) Na Und, I decided to snap a daytime pic out front, the sun perfectly positioned like a halo above. What memories this place holds for me!
My sweet tooth (read: sugar addiction) led me back to the Paris Bakery for those chocolate bombs. I got three, this time rolled in coconut. They are quite good!
I returned to the hotel to do more blogging, hanging out, watching YouTubes etc.
Around 6:30pm, I headed back to 450 Gradi to try a different pizza this time. I went straight to the back counter in front of the pizza oven, and Antonio (the owner) was there by himself. He was happy to see me, and we had a nice chat. I told him I was going to try the Genovese pizza that Matteo had recommended on the previous visit. So that you can see all of the pizzas on offer, here is the menu. Antonio told me he likes to keep the menu fairly limited and do everything on it very well.
The meat on this pie is short rib, which is slow-cooked for hours and hours. He let me smell the container full and it was so rich and delicious smelling. The pie came out perfectly, of course!
Modeling my pizza (if that's a thing) haha:
Nowhere near limited to pizza only, I noticed some other interesting things on the menu like pastas, lamb chops, and lemon risotto, and asked if the menu in Miami was the same, since I would only likely return one more time here in Maspalomas. Indeed it is, so I will be able to work my way further through the menu when I am in Florida.
After dinner, I went back to my hotel with the uneaten half of the pizza, and blogged Sunday's activities. It was 10pm by the time I went out to the bar. The bar was fairly crowded but not too full. I recognized a few faces, and said hi to a couple guys. I got a drink, and then one more. I was really looking for Earl! He never did show up, at least in the time I was there (until midnight on the dot when I called it quits for the night). I ran into Alex's friend John, the Irish guy, and we hugged and had a chat for a while. I grabbed this selfie with him to show Alex who I had run into. You can tell he is a jovial fella (although definitely not my type - haha):
He was there to meet up with the American guys whom Alex knew. When I saw them come in, I alerted John and bid him farewell so he could visit with them, as I had not met them and was not interested in doing so. I had been watching a man out of the corner of my eye (who was sitting on a sofa), but never did get to meet him (despite devising a plan to take his spot on the sofa and tell him I kept it warm for him when he returned - I did sit there, but when he came back by, he didn't come close enough for me to make contact). I also spoke with Roger for a few, but it didn't go anywhere, likely due to a lack of full enthusiasm on both our parts).
In one of their videos about Maspalomas, the Two Gay Expats recommended a sex club called Strong Construction. Not that I would ever go there, but I noticed that it was right next to my favorite bar, so I captured a little video to show them that and mention how funny it was that they were hanging out right next to the older men's bar and likely had no idea. haha
I walked back towards the hotel, and was only steps away when I ran into Luciano. We hugged and chatted for a few. He told me I should come visit him in Amalfi, which made me realize that he was the second guy with whom I interacted here from that area (Domenico being the other one). Since he wanted to be chummy, and I still had not had dinner with anyone in the last 10 evenings, I invited him out the next night, to which he replied, "I don't see why not". I offered a few options, but he left it to me to decide. It was midnight, and he was going out while I was just getting back to the hotel. haha
Once back, I looked up Lola, which came highly recommended by Two Gay Expats, but could not manage to get a call to go through to them. Looking for something easier to manage, I went to the website of Rias Bajas, the elegant seafood restaurant in which I had eaten and wanted to return, and was able to easily make a booking directly from there. So we were set for 8pm on Thursday. I washed up and went to bed.
